Do you know what a Fresh 48 Session is? When I had my kids I never knew what they were, but I sure would have loved images like these of my little ones so fresh and new. Well, a Fresh 48 is a newborn session done within the first 48 hours after the baby is born, at the hospital or your home.
I love newborn photography, lifestyle or posed studio, it’s all beautiful. I wanted to start offering Fresh 48 sessions in my area since I think they are such a special type of session. Those fresh baby details change so very quickly, even within the first week after you have your baby, and I want you to have these images to remember all that baby freshness.
I reached out to anyone I knew that was pregnant and asked them if they would be interested in having me capture their family and their newest additions. This was my first time shooting a fresh 48 and I loved every second of it. That new baby smell, their tininess, and those baby toes! Who doesn’t love baby toes?
Baby M arrived on July 10th at 9:29PM. She came in weighing at a healthy 8lbs 11oz. Mom texted me around midnight that evening, perfect timing as I was just getting ready to get myself to bed. We quickly discussed my arrival time for the next morning and then I anxiously awaited for the morning to arrive. Once my alarm started wailing that morning I knew it was time to get to the Abbotsford Hospital and get some baby snuggles, oh and take some pretty pictures too. When I arrived Baby M was sleeping and getting lots of attention from mom, dad and her aunt and uncle. I arrived before her big brothers were to come in so that I could capture their reactions on meeting their new baby sister. While we waited for her brothers and grandparents to arrive, I started the session by taking images of Baby and her parents. She was such a doll. So mellow and relaxed, she slept through the whole session and I only got a few shots with her eyes a little bit open and taking in all the love she was getting.
It was such a pleasure to capture all these sweet moments for this family, I could photograph these kinds of sessions every single day. I just adore seeing those small rooms filled with so much joy and love, just soaking up those tiny little humans we create. The baby snuggles are just an added bonus.
