Urban Family | Amongst the Mountains | Family Sessions | Chilliwack, BC Family Photographer

Summer evening light is beautiful for sessions, but sometimes the heat can be hard with all the sweating. Finding a location that has beautiful light but also enough shade to hide from the heat is the best and even better when it’s not very populated with people. This beautiful spot has all the scenery, the shade and usually there aren’t many people hanging around which makes it easier for families to relax when there isn’t a whole bunch of eyes around to watch you have your picture being taken.
Kelly reached out looking for a family session at the end of last year. She was my daughter’s 5th grade teacher, unfortunately they didn’t get to finish the whole school year, I’m sure everyone remembers how 2020 went, I don’t have to dive into any of that part of the year. But the time they did have that year I know my daughter really enjoyed having Kelly as her teacher as she was very eager to be my helper during this session. Once summer inched closer we connected again and started picking out dates, things got a little bumpy with schedules but we were finally able to make a beautiful evening work for us.
Before our session Kelly asked for a little help with styling for the session, I gave her a few tips and she was able to create a beautiful and warm, neutral but colourful palette with all the outfits. Styling doesn’t have to be difficult, and not always very neutral in tones, you’re allowed to add colour and your personality to your outfits.
If you’re ever looking for a few tips to get a start on planning your family outfits for a session, check out my post here.
Now back to this beautiful family’s session. They were easy going, took direction well and of course were super fun to work with. It’s always great when I am able to connect with families and chat while at the same time capturing them beautiful memories for their walls.
If you’re in need of updated family photos, don’t hesitate to reach out. Fall is coming upon us and I will have limited spots open in the next couple of months. You can get ahead of the game with that Christmas card photo, autumn has all those beautiful, warm and cozy colours perfect to turn into a card.
