Fawn Lake | Ice Fishing 2023 | Weekend Getaways | Family Documentary | Fawn Lake, BC Family Photographer

Oops, I totally forgot that I had this draft sitting here waiting to post.
We took a few days away in February and drove up to the Cariboo to do some ice fishing. We caught a few fish, enjoyed beautiful sunny snowy days, saw some wildlife and explored all over the lake.
The drive up to Fawn Lake was smooth, we didn’t encounter any hiccups. It was a beautiful day with the snow capped mountains in our view!
Our first full day we attempted to go ice fishing up at Cougar Lake, but the road up to the lake had not been plowed and was only accessible by snow mobile. We attempted the first snow bank, got stuck, had to get pulled out by people that luckily had been coming in the same direction as us to go snow mobiling up that way. They helped us out of our jam and we headed back down and found a spot to ice fish at Hathaway Lake. And no, I didn’t take any pictures of the truck stuck on the snow bank, I really should have grabbed my camera and took some pictures haha.
Our other two days we ice fished at Fawn Lake. A little bit of wind but beautiful days to spend on the lake. The kids and I explored all across the lake, found some animal prints to follow, and got lots of exercise walking through a lot of snow up and down hills. Trekking through snow is hard work.
We had a big roaring fire one evening and fired off a whole bunch of fireworks, it was loud, colourful and lots of fun.
The kids didn’t want to leave when it was time to head home, which I think means that they really love when we have these adventures up at Fawn Lake! And we love it too.
