December 2018 - 10 on 10 - Goodbye Lizard, AKA Hammy, AKA Taco | Hamster Funeral | Chilliwack, BC Family Photographer
Most days when I’m getting the kids ready for bed, I ask Kazia to make sure that her hamster has food in his bowl and fresh water. Last week, as per usual, I asked her to check his food and water and to make sure he was doing ok. She looked at me and said that she thought he was dead. At first I thought she was just kidding, because I had seen him the night prior having a drink when I was checking in on the kids before I went to bed. She tells me she isn’t kidding, and asked me to come look and make sure. And sure enough, the poor little guy had passed away. Kazia had a little cry, and asked if we could bury him somewhere. So after we had some hugs and cuddles, and she drew him a picture with a little note for his box, she got ready for bed; and I looked for a small box to put the little guy into. I used one of my small Macaron boxes I still had laying around from when I used to sell them at markets, it was the perfect size. The next morning we had a mini funeral for Lizard, the hamster!
And a few photos of Lizard over the last few years.
