Mostly Birds and Some Critters | A New Obsession | Wildlife Photography | Chilliwack, BC Photographer

Last month I started photographing birds for the Click Pro monthly theme of “A Walk with Nature”, and it was so much fun. I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy it. I tried to capture a lot of birds last month, and I got a few other little critters as well, I especially love the baby bunny eating our neighbours flowers!
I use my Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lens, it does the job fairly well but without image stabilization it makes the task challenging when handheld.
Some shots are ok, other’s I’m really excited about, but I’m sharing them all here with you so you can see all the pretty birds around Chilliwack. These were all captured along the Vedder Rotary Trail, our own backyard and some (the frog, turtles and Heron) at the Great Blue Heron Reserve.
I’m going to keep going, because it is really relaxing going for a walk and just listening for the birds and trying to spot them.
I also use an app called “MerlinBird ID” which shows me what birds I have a chance of seeing in my area, which I think is pretty awesome. It even has all the songs and calls each bird makes so I can learn what sounds to listen for when I’m out for a walk.
I hope that I can spot an owl sometime, that would be awesome. Oh, and a Pileated Woodpecker too. Well actually, there’s quite a few that I have to keep my eyes peeled for.
Well I hope you enjoy looking through all these as much as I enjoyed searching, listening and capturing them last month.
