I will never not love the autumn months the best. I mean all the seasons are pretty great for their special things, but autumn, I just can not get over it. It will always be my favourite no matter what.

If you’re read through some of my blog posts, you’ll recognize this lovely lady and her family. She owns an amazing Food truck (and now an all year round storefront as well) called Stormy’s where she makes the most delicious smoothies, smoothie bowls, savory bowls and snacks too.

I’ve had the pleasure of capturing her products and delicious creations a few times now and just recently I had the pleasure of creating some beautiful photos for her and her family.

You’d never suspect that this location was at a tiny little play park. I walked through this park beforehand to make sure it would work for our session and even though I knew the park would probably be a distraction for little Lift (which it totally was by the way haha), I knew it would work perfectly even with just a tiny bit of space for us to work with. The colours were still in full autumn mode and even though the sun kept playing hide and seek with us during this session it really turned out beautifully. Stormy and her family were absolutely adorable as well. Lift really wanted to play at the park so we had a few escape from the snuggle moments, but he was easily encouraged back into the scene with some pretty colourul leaves and mom and dad being awesome at engaging with him.

I try to do my best to allow the kids to run the show during our sessions, especially when they’re on the younger side. When I’m not forcing any interactions or posing they tend to have way more fun and enjoy being with mom and dad. It also allows for them to last through the whole session, if we’re forcing poses on little ones, they don’t tend to last a whole session, they get restless and fussy. The freedom for them to move and play keeps them happy and I can get all those in between moments that capture all the best little memories and then we add in all the snuggly poses when they’re not suspecting it.

So don’t ever worry that they’re not sitting still during your session. It will all work out best when the kids are having fun!
