Don't be Afraid of the Weather | Family Sessions | Chilliwack, BC Family Photographer

When you live in the PNW the weather can be unpredictable. One minute you’ll have beautiful sunshine and the next pouring rain or hail. I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to be afraid of having a session that doesn’t include that beautiful golden sunset light. Yes, it’s gorgeous and we all want that beautiful glow in our photos, but sometimes that unpredictable weather can bring about such beautiful sessions too.
Ok, so a crazy storm with wind and a torrential downpour wouldn’t make for a great session, but if we’re ever booked for a session and we get a little bit of rain when we start, I’m always game to capture beautiful memories in that not so great weather. You can snuggle and get close, use blankets and wrap up together to keep warm. And if you have some umbrellas on you we can pull those out and incorporate them into your session too.
I’ll keep you moving during the session to keep you from getting too cold, and as long as everyone is comfortable and having fun we can capture such beautiful moments between your family.
So next time the forecast calls for a small possibility of rain, don’t be afraid to chance it and do the session anyways. You never know, the sun might come out again and create some stunning skies too, it does happen once in awhile.
And now that we’ve covered the rain, how about that west coast winter weather. Most people wait until the Spring, Summer or Fall for beautiful family memories but winter can create some magic too. And with some golden light, it’s not always that bad in the snow.
Yes it can get cold, especially when we get those crazy winds here in the valley but that’s what cozy blankets are for! Let’s wrap everyone together and get cozy for some sweet moments.
If you’re ever interested in a winter session just give me a shout, I have some fun winter session ideas that you might want to try too. How about some sledding and then a hot cocoa treat? Or maybe you want to pick out your Christmas tree and have a family session at a tree farm. There’s lots of possibilities.
That winter light is gorgeous too!
So, if you’re thinking of getting family photos but you feel like you missed your chance in booking something for fall, don’t fret, there are beautiful moments and days to capture after fall too.
Are you ready to start planning a family session?
