Ucluelet Getaway | Vancouver Island, BC Family Photographer

Falling asleep to, and waking up to the sounds of the ocean was an amazing experience.
We decided to throw in an extra little getaway before summer started, so we took a few days and traveled over to Vancouver Island.  The kids loved the ferry ride over, and were hoping that they would get to see dolphins swim beside the ferry.  There was a whale, but no dolphins.  The drive to the other side of the Island was long with lots of winding road, but beautiful and scenic.  We stayed at a beautiful resort, Blackrock Resort in Ucluelet and really soaked in and enjoyed every minute we had there.
Ocean views, good food, beaches, adventures, and time spent as a family, the best.
We hiked the Wild Pacific Trails, visited at the lighthouse, and explored some of the beaches in Ucluelet.  One day was spent going on a whale watching tour where we got to see a little bit of a whale that was feeding, harbour seals and sea lions, eagles and we even had a bear sighting of a little black bear scavenging for food along the beach shores.  After whale watching we checked out the catch and release aquarium.  The kids loved the touch and feel tanks, and I was just mesmerized by the octopus, he was so fascinating.
One day we drove down to the neighboring town of Tofino, walked through the town exploring shops and sights, enjoyed the most delicious donuts and then hiked some of the Pacific Rim National Park trails, and visited more beaches.  Walking the beaches and listening to the ocean was so great, can't wait to go back.
On our drive home we stopped at Cathedral Grove (MacMillan Park) and walked the trails through a forest of huge trees.  A last little adventure before the ferry ride back to reality.
It really was an amazing little getaway, and I can't wait to go back again sometime.
Enjoy it all through the photos and when you get to the end there is a video I made of our trip.
