Ice Fishing Adventure | Fawn Lake | Lone Butte, BC Documentary Photographer

For the Family Day long weekend, we packed everyone up and headed for snow. It was a very full car with the addition of our fur baby tagging along on road trips now. Aside from one puppy throw up from motion sickness, the ride up was nice and smooth. We saw a big herd of big horn sheep at Spence’s Bridge.
We arrived at Fawn Lake early afternoon, and the kids didn’t waste any time before they were out in their snow gear and sledding. The weather was beautiful, lots of snow, blue skies and the temperature was perfect.
We did our ice fishing on our second and third day at the lake. It was a first for us all, and so much fun. The weather was so nice we didn’t need to set up any fires to keep us warm. We made our fishing holes, set everyone up and fished. Our first day we didn’t catch anything, but the kids had fun with the whole experience of being on a frozen lake.
We headed back the next day, and even though the sun wasn’t out, it still wasn’t cold, it only started to cool off later in the afternoon before we left to go make some dinner. We were able to catch four fish, it was so neat trying to reel in the fish through a small hole in the ground.
I was hoping to catch either a moose or a fox in the snow, but neither wanted to show their adorable faces for me this trip, maybe next time! The kids did catch a little shrew though, and we saw 4 big deer crossing the road when we went into town.
The night before we left we had a little fireworks show and the kids played with some sparklers.
Our drive home was even smoother then the drive up, no motion sickness from the pup, and we only had to make one quick stop just before we entered the Fraser Valley. I definitely admired the view on that stop, our province is so beautiful!
